The Comité Champagne announced in October that Pink Chardonnay is officially recognized in the Champagne appellation specification. A natural mutation of White Chardonnay, this ancient grape variety joins the seven main varieties already authorized. Identified as early as the 1900s in Champagne and Burgundy, this decision marks an important step in promoting the genetic heritage of the Champagne vineyards. Agronomically and oenologically, Chardonnay Rosé is very similar to White Chardonnay, joining Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay Blanc, plus Arbane, Petit Meslier, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris.
