A group of Connecticut Distributors, Inc., management and sales team members recently traveled to California for an immersive educational experience with J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, designed “to strengthen the team’s connection to the J. Lohr story.” Founded in the early 1970s by Jerry Lohr, the winery is recognized for its estate-grown wines from Paso Robles, Monterey and Napa Valley, as well as its pioneering efforts in sustainability and innovation. Hosted by Jerry and Cynthia Lohr, the visit offered personal and firsthand insights into the winery’s legacy, deep family involvement and forward-looking approach to farming and winemaking. The team started in Paso Robles with a guided tasting in the Signature Room, led by Darrell Marcus and Jasmine Jia. This was followed by a behind-the-scenes winery tour and a vineyard walk led by Director of Winemaking Steve Peck and Vineyard Manager John Perrin, showcasing J. Lohr’s leadership in sustainable viticulture. On Day 2, the group visited the winery’s Monterey and Greenfield operations, where Kristen Barnhisel and Jesus Ramirez showcased the cool-climate varietals and meticulous vineyard practices that define the region. Between sessions, the team enjoyed local cuisine at Thomas Hill Organics, La Plaza Bakery and Il Cortile Ristorante.
