Votto Vines welcomed new wines for December. From Cantina di Montalcino comes Lorenzo Melani Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020, a 100% Sangiovese Grosso, the newest vintage from the Italian producer found in the Votto Vines portfolio over the years. The Tuscan red wine offers a palate that is rich and bold, with enveloping notes of morello cherry, blackberry and currant with a light and elegant tannic texture that makes it harmonious and persistent. The 2020 vintage earns a 90-point score from both James Suckling and Wine Enthusiast. The next is Thurlow Cellars Boomslang Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a completely new item to Connecticut. Boomslang is crafted by Kevin Morrisey, made from grapes grown on 35-year-old vines of varying vintages, and boasts a 94-point review from Decanter. Only 28 barrels of the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon were blended from the small family-owned Napa Valley vineyard.
