Stomping Horse Wines Partners with Horse Rescue

By October 24, 2025Connecticut, Top News

Stomping Horse Wines collaborated on a fundraiser with the Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue on Sept. 5. The wines were showcased for more than two dozen guests who enjoyed a visit to the East Hampton-based nonprofit. The 501(c)(3) is run by volunteers and donations, dedicated to giving draft horses a second chance at life by saving them through intercepts at auctions and kill pens, providing food, shelter, medical care and love to help them transition into new lives and homes. The Sip & Paint art event, farm tour and hands-on hellos were part of the highlights. Stomping Horse Wines was founded by horse lovers, wine lovers and philanthropists Dawn Page, Steven Shewbrooks and Byron Brewer. The locally based wine company’s two varietals are sourced and bottled in Washington State’s Columbia Valley. Its white and red releases, each named with a horse-meets-wine play on words, are Stomping Horse Chardonneigh Washington Columbia Valley 2021, 100% Chardonnay, and Thoroughblend 2020, 65% Mourvèdre, 27% Syrah, 5% Grenache, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Viognier, from Washington’s Yakima and Columbia valleys. The wine sales help support human equine therapy and horse rescue efforts such as CT Draft Horse Rescue. Page’s horse Trouper, a former racetrack rescue, serves as the model for Stomping Horse’s wine labels.
