The RI Hospitality Association (RIHA) hosted its annual Membership Reception on June 9 at The Capital Grille in Providence. The event brought together hospitality professionals from across the state for networking, community building and a look ahead at RIHA’s industry initiatives. Held as a kickoff to summer, the event also featured members of the Zannella family, who presented the RI Hospitality Education Foundation’s Alfred A. Zannella Memorial Scholarship to two outstanding students pursuing careers in hospitality: Jenna Uthman, a Baking and Pastry Arts student at Johnson & Wales University and a National Honor Society member, and Rebecca Riggs, a Ponaganset High School graduate currently studying Hospitality and Tourism Management at UMass Amherst and a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honors Society. The scholarship was founded in Zannella’s name upon his passing in 2020, honoring his legacy as Executive Vice President of Mancini Beverage, where he was employed for 44 years, and his service as a board member of RIHA, among his long-standing community and industry support.
