New England Brewing Co. (NEBCO) has acquired the Stony Creek Brewery facility located along the Branford River in Branford. The sale includes the property at 5 Indian Neck Avenue, encompassing the brewery, taproom, event space and kitchen trailer, but does not include the Stony Creek brand or business operations. Established in 2001, New England Brewing Co. is one of Connecticut’s oldest breweries. The company said the strategic move marks its “long-awaited expansion,” allowing for growth in both production and taproom offerings. While the brewery’s Woodbridge location at 175 Amity Road will remain open, the new space offers a waterfront experience plus added amenities for visitors. NEBCO’s Branford location will also house its primary brewing operations and serve as staff headquarters. “This expansion is a long time coming and a significant milestone for us,” said Rob Leonard, Owner, NEBCO. “The timing aligns perfectly for us to expand our reach in the craft beer community.” Ed Crowley, Founder of Stony Creek Brewery, shared, “After many incredible years of brewing and serving our community, we felt it was the right time to step away.” Crowley, along with wife Peggy and son Ed Jr., launched the Stony Creek brand in 2010 and opened the Branford facility in 2015. As part of the new vision, NEBCO is partnering with local restaurateurs Robert Marcarelli and Jared Schulefand of Pi Restaurant Consulting to launch NEBCO Craft Kitchen by Supreme Seafood.
