Monsieur Touton Adds New Pisco, Absinthe

By August 29, 2025Connecticut, Top News

Monsieur Touton Selection, Ltd., welcomed two new spirits offerings to Connecticut. First, Waqar Pisco from Chile, the grape-based spirit that adheres to specific Denomination of Origin (D.O.) standards set by Chilean law. Made by Pisquera Tulahuén with 170 years of tradition, Pisco Waqar is an ultra-premium distillate made from Chilean wine obtained 100% from Muscat grapes grown in ancestral terroir at the feet of the Andes, still harvested by hand. Chilean pisco is a versatile and distinctive spirit with a rich history and can be enjoyed neat, in cocktails or in culinary creations. Next, Mt. Defiance Absinthe, a traditional French-style verte absinthe created from a late 19th-century French recipe at its distillery located in Middleburg, Virgina. The anise-flavored spirit is derived from several plants, including the flowers and leaves of Artemisia absinthium (grand wormwood), and combined with green anise, sweet fennel and other medicinal and culinary herbs. Absinthe is commonly referred to in historical literature as la fée verte, or “the green fairy,” and is traditionally bottled at a high ABV, but normally diluted with water before being consumed. Mt. Defiance grows its own grand wormwood, roman wormwood, hyssop, and other botanicals and imports Andalusian green aniseed and French fennel doux.
