Votto Vines welcomed new French spirits to the local market. The first, Sorgin Gin, made from Bordeaux-region Sauvignon Blanc, offers a premium distilled gin made with carefully selected aromatic plants and citrus fruit, including a citrus zest of pink grapefruit, lemon, and lime and violet, broom and blackcurrant bud. Based on an original recipe, Sorgin was inspired by renowned winemaker François Lurton and his wife and partner Sabine’s South-West French roots, creating a fruity, delicate gin. Its new-to-Connecticut expressions include S de Sorgin Grapefruit Flavored Gin Rosé, Sorgin Sauvignon Blanc Gin and Sorgin Yellow Sauvignon Blanc Gin Barrel Aged. Also new is Récapet Bas Armagnac VSOP Baco and Bas Armagnac VSOP Domaine de Targuerie Folle Blanche Baco. Also by the Lurtons, the two new Armagnacs are the result of seeking the perfect balance between wine, wood and time. The launch of Récapet marked the acquisition of Domaine de Targuerie, located in the Bas-Armagnac appellation with its 15 hectares of organic vineyards, which allow the Lurtons to produce organic certified Armagnacs.
