Old Heidelberg at Graduate New Haven
1151 Chapel Street
New Haven, CT

Located steps from the Yale University campus, Old Heidelberg is a legendary Chapel Street bar, one of the oldest in New Haven. Part of the Graduate New Haven by Hilton, the historic bar offers a cozy, old-school setting. Part of the town-and-gown linkage since 1757, the venue is a landmark for locals, college students and tourists who explore the city’s diverse drinking and dining culture. Its bar program is run by local cocktail veteran Anthony DeSerio alongside a team of talent including bartender Michael Bosco. While The Old Heidelberg’s history suggests beer is the star of the bar, its craft cocktails share the spotlight as seasonally inspired sips offer flavorful explorations of classic profiles.

Old Heidelberg’s A Dram for All Seasons.

Method: Add tequila, amaro and lime juice and ice to a copper mug. Top with Fever-Tree Blood Orange Ginger Beer and garnish with a fresh orange peel.

“I’m a big fan of the Mexican Mule and I wanted to find a way to add more character to an already great drink,” said Michael Bosco, Bartender Old Heidelberg. “The subtle spice of the Milagro Reposado with its caramel and vanilla notes plays nicely with the ginger, and the DeGroff New World Amaro brings warmth and complexity. Paired with the blood orange and lime, it’s a cocktail that sits smack between summer and fall—a dram for all seasons.”
