Connecticut Distributors, Inc. (CDI), welcomed Celaya Tequila, a new tequila brand from retired NFL stars and brothers Matt and Ryan Kalil, to its sales team with a brand education and tasting on June 25. Co-owner Matt joined the CDI sales team in person, sharing the story and craftsmanship behind the brand he and his brother created. The tequila—available in Blanco, Reposado and Añejo expressions—is made from a proprietary blend of highland and lowland agave, yielding a rich and complex flavor. Matt and Ryan Kalil, who both played for the Carolina Panthers as left tackle and center, respectively, created the premium, additive-free tequila because they were both inspired by their family heritage and wanted to help support building affordable housing in Mexico. Through its partnership with the nonprofit New Story, the brand donates $1 from every bottle sold to help build safe, affordable housing for families in Jalisco, Mexico. “We’re proud to welcome Celaya Tequila to the CDI portfolio and to support its mission of honoring heritage and making a difference,” said CDI President John Slocum. “The craftsmanship and story behind this brand are truly special, and we’re excited to share it with our customers.”
