The Ocean State Oyster Festival, a member of the Ocean State Aquaculture Association, hosted its annual celebration of Rhode Island’s shellfish delights at Riverwalk Park in Providence on Sept. 20. Now in its 11th year, the event featured 16 Rhode Island oyster farms, live music, craft beer and wine, and food trucks in 195 District Park, next to the pedestrian walk bridge along the Providence River. Blue Acres Aquaculture, Bluff Hill Cove Oyster Farm, East Beach Oyster Co., Ninigret Nectars, North Star Oysters, Plum Point Oysters, Quonnie Rock Oysters, Quonnie Siren Oyster Co., Quonset Point Oysters, Rocky Rhode Oyster Co., Rome Point Oysters, Saltbox Sea Farm, Saltwater Farms, Sea Kist Oysters, Thomas Point Oysters, Walrus and Carpenter Oysters, West Passage Oyster Company and Wild Goose Oysters, as well as Whalers Brewing Company, Tower Hill Brewing, Bulleit Bourbon and Mixed-Up Cocktail Co., were among tastes. The festival supports the Ocean State Aquaculture Association, which educates and advocates for sustainable farming in Narragansett Bay and its estuaries.
