Puerto Rico’s Don Q Rum was showcased at retailer Worldwide Wine & Spirits in Southington for an August in-store tasting. Local beverage industry expert Anthony DeSerio poured for shoppers and educated on the brand. Don Q Rum is owned by the Serrallés family through their company Destilería Serrallés. The Serrallés family has been involved in rum production for six generations, dating back to the mid-1830s when they established a sugarcane plantation in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The Don Q brand, named for literary character Don Quixote, is the No. 1 selling rum in Puerto Rico.
