Miller Lite celebrated its 50th anniversary by giving away 50,000 beers across the country. To recognize five decades as the “Original Light Beer,” the brand invited fans to raise a glass with 50K Beers for 50 Years: a one-day nationwide toast on International Beer Day. which took place Aug. 1. The American Pilsner first debuted in 1975, a 4.2% ABV, low-calorie brew of pale and crystal barley malts. The coast-to-coast cheers culminated in a first-of-its-kind Beer Drop at the Miller Brewery in Milwaukee. Not unlike the New Year’s Eve ball drop, this featured a larger-than-life six-pack installation, with each oversize Miller Lite can representing an individual U.S. time zone. The campaign included gold cans, a consumer sweepstakes and a merchandise collaboration with Members Only. Additionally, Miller Lite partnered with Grill Masters to highlight recipes that pair well with the beer.
